OUTFIT / Tailored for the weather

Nick Coleman pinstripe boxy jacket
UNIQLO tank top
BCBG tailored trousers
Zara boots
H&M X Margiela neckpiece

I can't help it. Whenever I smock this big jacket on, I instantly feel like a JUUN J. warrior looking tough with slick wet and flat hair. So I did. When it felt too hot, I remove the jacket and enjoyed the breeze with my cotton tank top. We cannot depend our clothes on the weather forecast because most of the time it fails to ... forecast but this guessing game has made me master  wearing clothes that will work on whatever weather will transpire.

CLOTHES / Neat Creams

Boxy Neoprene tee / Lola & Daisies
Boxy sweater with Plastic / FrontRow Shop

You know you're basically doing a great job in being nice when you receive nice things in return. Especially if it is in the form of creamy boxy clothes I can use all year long.  Have you ever attempted to dress up really fancy and ended up wearing just white shirts and sweaters? Now, what I have here aren't some usual items but upgraded versions of shirts and sweaters.

OUTFIT / Alternate

American Apparel / sweater
Costume National /skirt
Y-3 / skinny jogging pants
Oxygen / white eyewear

Surprised to see the white-grey-white color pattern of this outfit.  Definitely not getting tired of mixing skirts and pants still. I will always say yes to monochromes but bi-colors won't hurt.

DIY / Mules > Derbies

After pondering for days on how to make it comfortable and wearable, I came up with a simple plan: MULES! Aside from the fact that mules are becoming popular once again (crazy that trends are just repeating and repeating ) , I always strive for ease and functionality. What better way to make a footwear easy is to make it a slip-on. The rave behind the  Nike slides and Vans are because of their easy sensibility. So I asked a shoemaker to revamp my shoes. It was hitting 3 birds in one stone. I made it wearable and updated and I camouflaged the reality of it which is : 'it can't fit me" . I am just so proud that I didn't let negativity stopped me , opening more possibilities . My shoemaker was clever enough to cut the parts and re-stitched the raw cuts cleanly. If I were the one who diy-ed it, it would have been tragically messy. Yes!  It would've been more compact if it stayed as a regular derby ala Balenciaga but I need to wear these shoes too so making it as a mule isn't so bad after all. Would you do the same?

OUTFIT / Disproportion

Backpack / Collective via Zalora Philippines
Neoprene Geometric coat / Ninthsheep
trousers / thrifted
Square boots / Messeca via Solestruck

So happy with the proportion play I served this day. The odd mix of my Ninthsheep crop boxy jacket  with my hi waist carrot trousers versus the big backpack created a rather interesting shape. As for the big backpack over here, it's great to know that I could load it up with several magazines and my very wide sketchpad without the stress. It's very useful in times like this too when I needed my other hand to hold the umbrella and the other one for reaching my phone.

CLOTHES / Geometric Cover up

No fuss was the word I had in mind when I was working on this piece. My obsession with geometric angles and simplicity was brought to life by this lovely cover-up. I used a scuba fabric for a clean look that doesn't wrinkle (saves ironing chores big time!) . I hate wrinkles lately and just want clothes just to look tailored yet causal at the same time. Added points when it creates a boxy silhouette and this sure did exactly what I want. The cover up can build up any outfit without fuss. I think the scuba fabric will extend its trend status into a staple because I see longevity and mileage in terms of durability and function. I am designing and creating a couple of basic pieces for the Ninth sheep clothing line. So excited

COLLECTION / Niklas Schutt

Niklas Schutt

Niklas is a young designer based in Germany.
I stumbled upon his collection at UMAG's site
and after falling in love with his collection, I've decided  to
email him for photos. The  shades of white were given drama
with the impeccable arrangement of overlapping layers.

It was a monochromatic collection but
texture-wise , there is a degree of variation.
I also love how he photographed the pieces wherein a source of light
reveals the clean skeletal framework of the
jackets and dresses.
This architectural mastery isn't brought by his sheer appreciation
with such discipline but because he actually took up
Architecture classes. Mixing it with his skills in designing ,
he have given life to a collection that echoes novelty and ingenuity.

CLOTHES / Windows

neoprene laser cut shirt /  Frontrow shop

I don't know how many times I've uttered " This is the best shirt ever!!" in this blog but this shirt is too awesome and I'm beginning to see it as a favorite. One , it's made from scuba fabric , two it's white and three , it's completely layerable . It's boxy and roomy enough to be worn over your crispy button down shirt or a thin sweat shirt or if you're just too confident with your chiseled body, wearing it alone would be cute. Plus ,just imagine the texture and tiny shadows it'll give to the clothes. It looks light and I would always imagine it to be a white floating building with tiny square windows.. Frontrowshop , you've done it again! Head over to their site because they're  having a 50%off clearance sale. You know what to do !

OUTFIT / Quick Run

Topshop / sweater
soccer shorts
Nike Air Force 1 /sneakers

It was a lovely sunny Saturday and I went to buy fabrics.Surprisingly , it was the only day in the week that I was able to go out and perform errands. It was raining hard the whole week hence crippling me to just stay at home , do my online job and read a book. Seeing the sun drying the whole streets was a lovely sight. I used to favor the rain over the heat but I love the mood that the daylight brings versus the somber feeling you get when it rains. I hate bringing umbrellas by the way. Finally,  I was able to wear my new backpack from Tomtop. It is a very timely and useful present. It is a multi-way backpack that becomes a handbag or a backpack in just a snap (literally) . The magic lies behind  the small snaps that hold the straps. Now, this supersedes the concept of a typical backpack. How harsh it would be to just call it a - "backpack. I chose white cause I haven't had any white bag ever since. I wasn't  a bag person but lately I am recognizing its value after loving my trusty old Eastpak leather backpack.

LIFE / 16th month

Yes! It's our 16th month anniversary today! A little update, I have a great feeling our Partner Visa will be granted soon. I don't wanna spill the beans yet but we are really excited and happy. Also , Larrend just graduated college last week so things are working great! I love this photo of us so much.

SHOP / Minimal backpacks

1.Alexandria Backpack - Collective.com
2. Black Flap Backpack - CAVA bags
3. Alfalfa backpack - UMBLE
4. Trapeze Backpack - Something Borrowed
5. Lava Backpack - CAVA bags
6. Multi-ways backpack - Something Borrowed

I love love backpacks! I only own two right now but I know it wouldn't hurt to buy another one in a new form and silhouette. Besides , my EASTPAK backpack is becoming tired and overused.  My boyfriend was checking out Zalora the other day and he was eyeing this cute shirt so I also went to the site and clicked on "BACKPACKS" and I was surprised to see lovely lovely designs from local brands. Here's my top 6 and I am really getting a hard time choosing among my list. I've been getting so much inquiries from friends and bloggers on where to get a decent minimal backpack. I would source dingy Japanese surplus shops for a cute vintage backpack because I love the boyish charm it gives to a look. Lately , designers from Rad Hourani, Nicomede Talavera  to Phillip Lim released their own version of minimal backpacks which strongly reaffirms its place as a  promising item that you must have. So I suggest before you head far, visit Zalora now and take a look at bags here . Prices are so reasonable too and I reckon you would even get at least 2 from their wide selections. Please, save some for me! I think I'm getting nos. 1 and 2 and 4 . Seriously, I really love the bags!

LIFE / When it rains...

Transparent Umbrella / Japan Surplus
sneakers / Nike Air Force 1
backpack / Tomtop
neckpiece / Margiela x H&M
Minimum book / John Pawson

When it rains, the streets get muddy. My sneakers get muddy too. I wear sneakers when it rains because leather shoes will die young when soaked in the rain. I've experienced it. When it rains, I use my transparent umbrella because it's cute compared to the floral ones that my mama gave me. The prints are atrocious haha. And sometimes when it rains so hard, I cancel my plan to go out just like today hence the poignant photo. So sad because I was really excited to wear this new shirt with my Margiela neckpiece but it rained so I stayed home with my plant and read this book Minimum by John Pawson.  Tomorrow I'll be doing my laundry and the if it rains , it will again ruin the plan. Have a great weekend everyone!

PHOTODIARY / National Museum

Just a random visit to the Museum. I had the best 2 hours of my life and I couldn't wait to go back. I wish to visit more museums which present modern concepts and young artists. It was nice to see families and lots of children spending  their Sunday here instead of killing time at Timezone.

SHOES / Sandal sandwich

Finally! A fresh white sandals that I'll be wearing everyday . I wish the streets here are dry and dustless but those negativities will not impede me to get excited in wearing these. What I love about them is the stacked platforms and rubber soles. Thinking of wearing it with socks would be clever too! Thanks for the gift , Trendphile!
