COLLECTION / Camiel Fortgens Fall/Winter 2015

Flat, odd-looking yet very recognizable pieces redefining the boundaries of menswear.
A collection that is puzzling with elements of the things we wear every day.

A clothing collection based on the archetypal silhouette and fabric off former menswear.
Challenging the contemporary “cut copy paste” culture and industry. Searching for the known.
The known that can give grip in our cut-copy-pasted context.
Making a ‘still’ in time, reflecting on menswear in general.
Keeping in mind and overviewing the history of menswear."

A big admiration for this young designer, Camiel Fortgens who showed his collection during
Amsterdam Fashion Week for Fall/ Winter 2015. It is always a  beautiful experience to
see (virtually, at least) designers like him to cull inspirations from
the outside boundaries of the traditional aesthetic of menswear. The use of white
tee as a backdrop to juxtapose the distorted and exaggerated proportions
of his outerwear and pants was brilliant. A nod to Raf Simons and Margiela's
ardent love to culminate the normalcy of a shirt into a signature look
Camiel created various outerwears, pants and bottoms that are seemingly
out of proportion to the body yet interesting and artfully done.
I love the wrap skirt so much! I reckon it's made of felt wool and it would be
very very perfect for the winter season here in Australia!

OUTFIT / Sunday stillness

white tee / thrifted
white denim pants /  Uniqlo
sandals /  Rubi
cuff / hardware

What better day to wear a very relaxed all-white ensemble! It's Sunday again! People in the streets are more cheerful , the day seemed longer and the atmosphere seemed aware that on Sundays, offices and jobs don't exist. I truly love when I see people in their business pinstriped  suits and black pumps however there's nothing ever more relaxing than to see people barefoot and in flip flops. Count me in.

COLLECTION / Ribeyron

Ribeyron

My excitement to share with you Ribeyron's collection is overwhelming. I spoke to the creator/ designer- Jacques Elli few weeks ago and he was kind enough to send these images to me while working on his lines heets and business trips in France. When you want to know fresh collections and designs , Instagram is a friend. I'm beginning to consider Pinterest as well but information overload is a disease I clearly avoid nowadays. However , Ribeyron caught my eye! The exagerrated outersoles and clean details (you can't even see the stitches on the outersole OMG) had me and I was like are these crafted like LEGOS? I clearly love the aesthetic and my fave would be the boots which has the most intriguing and exquisite design akin to an architectural object. This is the next big thing!

THINGS / Conceal

Just enjoying my camera and the abundant sunlight with some of my favorite things . The idea of concealing their parts behind a white box intrigues me . What I look for in still life photography is that minimal character where an object is bathed against a white negative space preferably with angular shadows and sun beams. I also love it when a colored object contrasts the whole photo by its print and color more so if a part of it is concealed and a small fraction of it is exposed , say a heel of a shoe, creating an amusing sense of being seen despite of hiding. The randomness of  the story and character it narrates perturb me.

BEAUTY / Less Base

New additions to my small community of skincare and cosmetics : Paula's Choice Skin Brightening Treatment and the widely adored Hourglass Immaculate Powder Foundation. Products nowadays are becoming multi-functional hence eradicating the futile and laborious process of skincare and make up. The brightening treatment acts as both primer and treatment while the foundation is a lightweight liquid and powder in one. I'm trying to slowly eradicate powders since I've discovered that it makes the breakout worse plus it kills the skin's natural radiance which I am after nowadays. You must really check out Paula's Choice , my boyfriend shared his products with me and after seeing the results, I'm totally sold!

PHOTODIARY / Minimal houses 01

Boredom is a good thing. It paves way to a new avenue of activity and before you even realize, boredom doesn't exist anymore. Most of the time. Larrend and I are laidback . We don't have tv at home. We always workout or jog but sometimes we just don't feel like doing those routines anymore so one day we just drove around this cool residence near the beach where all the minimal modernist houses are built. Looking at them inspired us to own a house one day. It's not a bad thing to dream of owning a house. Some people collect pokemon cards or vintage cars but owning a house is, if within reason, a practical necessity. But of course we would want our house to be something at par with the photos above. Sometimes when we drive to town , I would always keep my eyes peeled for modern houses.Usually , I gasp when I see those small boxy houses with matte paint on the walls with angular roofings.  I have a part 02 for this on my next post.

I have this deep intense liking with anything linear and sharp.. and navy. The weather here is transitioning subtly into fall and wearing my leather pants was the perfect decision that morning.
